About

At Deus Lex Machina, we believe that art is everywhere. We have established this blog in the hopes of bringing literary analysis to venues typically ignored. Universities will always notice the colossi, for giants like Joyce and Faulkner and Hemingway cast large enough shadows to be sensed from afar. Literary magazines devote themselves to unearthing fresh new voices and talent, elevating them to their deserved plateaux. Yet for all the valuable services that these and other institutions render, they cannot hope to catch all the strange and wonderful treasures hidden in world literature.

The DLM team attempts to compensate for the blind spots of mainstream literary study. We aim to introduce compelling scholarly perspectives into places heretofore unexplored. We scour libraries, museums, coffeehouses, arcades, the four corners of the Internet, and beyond, to bring you deeper insight into the world around you. Sometimes we look at the written word; sometimes we will delve into other media.

Because we can, we must.
